ED 501 - Teaching Critical Reading and Writing Across All Content Areas - 3 Graduate Credits
Participants will learn the effective strategies to teach your students to critically think, read, write, and talk about your topics using the standards as your guide. This course will demonstrate how to help students analyze multiple text sets to deepen understanding.
Participants will learn highly effective strategies that support critical reading and writing. This course will demonstrate how to help students analyze multiple text sets to deepen understanding. Participants will develop a library of resources and guides to use in their classroom to enhance student achievement. Participants will develop an understanding of critical reading and writing across all content areas through a variety of methods and materials. This course will explore a wide range of strategies and resources to promote critical reading. This course will encourage students’ thinking about reading to learn how to engage in the process of close reading. Students not only need to learn how to determine whether a text is worth reading, but also how to take ownership of a text’s important ideas and make deeper meaning. Participants will recognize the importance of modeling close and critical thinking and providing opportunities for students to develop reading and writing skills. Overall, the course will focus on researched based instructional strategies that focused on teaching critical reading and writing across all content areas.

-Credit is offered through CSU Pueblo/Colorado State University Pueblo.
-Coursework is submitted through Schoology.
-You will pay for the course with iFireUP and we will send you a link to complete the online registration with CSU Pueblo.
