ED 501 - Integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Into Practice - 3 Graduate Credits

This course will focus on integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) into the classroom. Participants will explore inquiry based learning and practice utilizing STEM education into all content areas.

Participants will gain an understanding that STEM education is a range of strategies that help students apply skills from a variety of disciples to solve problems. This course will encourage utilizing real world reverent learning experiences for students. Participants will support students to use current learning to apply skills and knowledge to the task at hand. Participants will study Problem Based Learning and Project Based Learning. Participants will review the Next Generation Science Standards and become more aware of the importance of subject integration. The course will share resources that showcase STEM lessons and participants will develop a STEM lesson for their classroom. Overall, the course will focus on content integration, real world learning, and the importance of STEM education.

Important Information:

-Credit is offered through CSU Pueblo/Colorado State University Pueblo.

-Coursework is submitted through Schoology.

-You will pay for the course with iFireUP and we will send you a link to complete the online registration with CSU Pueblo.

-Once you register with CSU Pueblo, you will be provided with your NET ID number. You can expect this email approximately 7-10 days later. Keep record of this number, it is your student number!

-Once your coursework is submitted to iFireUP and we submit your grade, CSU Pueblo will enter it. This process can take up to 14 days.

-You will be able to view your unofficial transcripts once the grade it transcribed (you will need to periodically check your account).
